Masai Lion
The Masai Lion (Panthera leo nubica) is more commonly known as the east African Lion. They live mostly on the eastern side of Africa and feed off of animals like gazelles, wildebeests, ostriches, antelopes, and many other animals. They are a high order consumer and are one of the top predators in their area. Lions may kill their prey and have hyenas scavenge it. Lions live in groups called prides and work as a team. Female lions usually do the hunting while males stay to protect their pride from others.

Grevy's Zebra
Grevy's Zebra (Equus grevyi) is a type of zebra that lives in the Serengeti. It is one of the most endangered, but the population has stabilized since 2008. They feed off of autotrophs like grass and plants that are found in the savanna. Grevy's zebras do not usually live in harems like others in their species, but they live in territories they establish during the wet season. If a zebra has not established one it is known as a bachelor and free ranges.

Ostrich
Ostriches (Struthio camelus) is the largest bird in the world. They are flightless and rely on their speed to escape from predators. They can run at up to 43 mph. Ostriches only have two toes, unlike most birds, this allows for faster speed. If they can not run, ostriches fight with their legs. They manly eat roots and seeds, but they will also eat lizards, snakes, or rodents. They have been known to graze with other animals like zebras or antelopes, which the other animals use to their advantage. The ostriches alerts the others when danger is near. These birds were once close to extinction, but new laws and ostrich farms have brought them back.

Tanzanian Cheetah
Tanzanian Cheetahs (Acinonyx jubatus raineyii) is one of the top predators in Africa. Their speed and slim bodies make it easy for it to attack its prey quickly. It doesn't hunt at night like most other big cats; it prefers the day time. They hunt alone and don't socialize much with others. In many areas the cheetahs numbers are suffering due to habitat loss and the high mortality rate for its young. They are the fastest animal on Earth.

Thomson's Gazelle
The Thompson's gazelle (Eudorcas thomsonii) is the most common antelope type in this region. They are the second fastest animal, reaching 55 mph. They aren't quite as big as others, and only weigh about 55 lbs. Adult males graze frequently during the wet season and look for new territory. The population estimate is about 550,000. They are vulnerable to the many predators in the area such as lions or cheetahs.
